Yes, I am very late to the party on these but they’re cool and it’s the movie I am most hyped for this year so that is excuse enough to post them this late in the game.
@simonpegg – It’s 106 miles to Chicago, we got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it’s dark & we’re wearing sunglasses
This week from around the web, a little peek at what’s going on with some of your favourite shows and movies. Make sure to check out the extra adorable piglets making a guest appearance on Cougar Town.
The Cornetto Trilogy is over but that doesn’t mean Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg will never work together again. Hell the Cornetto Trilogy wasn’t even the first time they worked together (If you haven’t seen _Spaced_ then I can’t, as the kids say these days, _even_).
@MarkCTinker – Even with beautiful late afternoon light most of us will never look this good. #ChicagoPD @sophiabush – Ha!
Waiting all summer long for your favourite shows to come back in the fall can feel like forever. But with the magic of twitter lots of actors are now posting set selfies to give us all a little sneak peek on what they’re working on. The best of this week includes Chicago PD, Grey’s Anatomy, Criminal Minds, Kingdom and Kevin Bacon suggesting his wife bring home her Brooklyn Nine-Nine costume.
@narcissusholmes – My incredible Guardians of the Galaxy makeup. See it!
One of the most fun parts of twitter is getting to see the pictures the actors take of what goes on behind the scenes. In addition to Nick Holmes’ photo of the great makeup job on Guardians of the Galaxy here’s some of what you may have missed this week…
*The World’s End has been released in the UK a full month before North America, so here’s a review from our UK office to get you suitably excited!*
You know that time in your life when you just left school? Do you remember when alcohol was something to be celebrated and experimented with, as were sex, drugs and music? It felt like you could do anything, right? Well Gary King can remember that time all too well, and while the rest of his friends may have moved on to have jobs, wives and families, he finds himself striving for those halcyon days. And so he decides to get his gang back together to undertake a legendary pub crawl in their childhood town. 12 pubs. 12 pints. What could possibly go wrong?
So, time to talk about [another of my most anticipated films](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/01/matts-most-anticipated-of-2013/). I am a life long Star Trek fan. Let’s just get that out of the way right now. When I was a kid I watched The Original Series. When it debuted on TV I watched Every episode of Next Generaion, Deep Space Nine and even Voyager despite all it’s problems. Enterprise, I am of the opinion, got cancelled just when it had gotten really good. I’ve seen every movie multiple times and, perhaps most relevant to what I am about to say, I really liked JJ Abrams 2009 reboot of the franchise.
Yes, it has problems. Hell, the whole plot falls apart if you pay more than a cursory amount of attention to the details, but it has that certain extra _je ne said quo is_ that makes me forget all this as I watch it. Despite it’s ridiculousness it sucks me in and I enjoy it every time.
Naturally I was excited for a sequel and today we got one. So how is it? It’s… well it’s something.
Here are some shiny character posters for Star Trek Into Darkness from the UK courtesy of [Collider](http://collider.com/star-trek-into-darkness-posters/).
All joking aside, this is looking good although perhaps a little predictable. Clearly looks like the bad guy gets the better of Kirk due to Kirks arrogance which ends disastrous consequences and then has to fight back from a place of defeat with perhaps these help of his friends and colleagues.
None of this is a bad thing necessarily, that could be an amazing movie. It is well worn material though so we’ll have to see.
Then again, they might be leading me to think that so that they can hit me with something totally different. Either way, seriously, is it 17th May yet????
Good news everyone! The Worlds End US release date has been moved up two months! So sayeth director Edgar Wright:
For those in the US who didn’t want to wait another two months for ‘The World’s End’, we give you a new release date! boxofficemojo.com/schedule/?view…
This is nothing but good news. Puts is square in summer popcorn relaese time rather than autumn oscar contenders and “things we didn’t know what to do with” times.
More good news for one of my [most anticipated of the year](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/01/matts-most-anticipated-of-2013/)
