I am very happy that The Dark Tower is being made. I have exactly zero stake in the matter, I have never read any of the books and am only mildly aware of how Kings other work ties into them but seeing people positively freak out that they are happening makes me happy. Plus, I’m a fan of high concept weirdness. So let’s take a look at these two new trailers.
Interstellar is probably the most ambitious film I’ve seen all year. It aims high in terms of scientific accuracy, storytelling, and cinematic scope, and it very nearly succeeds. But not quite. That’s not to say it’s a bad movie, but I was hoping for a great movie and this is just a good one.
Time to catch up on all the news I missed while I was on holiday, starting with a bunch of new posters for the movie I may be looking forward to most: Interstellar.
WE still don’t 100% know what Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar is really about (saving the world?) and this trailer doesn’t feature much in the way of new footage but on the other hand all the footage is amazing and you get to hear Michael Caine read Do Not Go Gentle Into That Good Night so just watch it already because that’s awesome.
Christopher Nolan’s next film has a new trailer and holy shit is it gorgeous.
Good news everyone! The best television series of the year so far and, to be honest, probably of the year is now available on iTunes and BD and DVD. If you didn’t get the chance to see it while it was airing then this is the perfect opportunity for you to see it and if you did see it while it was airing it’s your perfect opportunity to watch it again.
You’re probably thinking “that;s some hyperbole there Matthew, you can’t declare something the best of the year when we;re not even half way through the year!” but you know what? I certainly an. Game of Thrones is amazing and Silicon Valley is hilarious and Turn is entertaining and Mad Men has been great but I can’t think of anything that is going to come close to delivering on storytelling, acting, directing, style, and tone, as True Detective did. It’ll be shocked if it doesn’t win all the awards this year, including (but not limited to) Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson’s acting, Nic Pizzolatto’s writing, and Cary Joji Fukunaga’ directing

So there you go, you now have access to the best show of the year. And if you think I’m being hyperbolic then buy your copy, watch it, and we’ll have a lively debate.
We still know very little about this movie other than the fact that it’s going to be friggin’ gorgeous.
Here’s a new poster for Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film Interstellar. It’s kind of beautiful and kind of depressing.
Even though The Dark Knight Rises is one of the biggest cinematic disappointments in recent memory, the first glimpse of a new Christopher Nolan movie still fills me with excitement thanks to Momento, Insomnia, and the masterpiece that is Inception. His new movie, Interstellar, is due for release next November. Here’s the first teaser:
There’s plenty of reasons to be excited about The Wolf of Wall Street: Scorsese directed, DiCaprio, Hill, and McConaughey starring, I mean what else could you ask for? And here’s two new posters. Hurrah!
Posting will be slow this week as I am on holiday.
HBO has a new show starting in 2014 in which Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson track a serial killer over a number of years. Yes, it looks as good as it sounds judging by this trailer.
Matthew McConaughey is on a hot streak. He went through a patch of shitty movies there for a while but he’s been nothing less than great in every movie he’s done since last year. Looks like that streak is going to continue this year too, he’s already had a good turn in Mud and looks like he might be great in The Wolf of Wall Street, and now he’s pulled a Christian Bale and lost all of his weight for Dallas Buyers Club in which he plays a cowboy diagnosed with HIV in the early days of the disease. Let’s check out the trailer.
Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese working together? That alone is enough to get my butt in a seat these days. A new trailer for their next film together, The Wolf of Wall Street, has been release. Let’s watch!
