‘WandaVision’ trailer + poster: They certainly are an unusual couple

The next phase of the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to include, as of this writing, 7 TV series on Disney+ in addition to the six currently announced films. The “Cinematic Universe” is officially more of a “mixed media universe.” Remember when part of the appeal of the films was that they made the impenetrable web of comic book continuity accessible again to new fans? That feels like it’s nearly over.

Anyway, the first of the Disney+ series to hit the service is going to be WandaVision, in which Scarlet Witch seems to be living out a 50s TV fantasy life with Vision. Only one issue: Vision is dead. So what is going on? Let’s take a look!

Review: ‘Ant-Man & The Wasp’ delivers big with small stakes

The first **Ant-Man** is a good film. Immediately following **Avengers: Age of Ultron** is was light, funny, full of great performances, and had refreshingly small, personal stakes. **Ant-Man & The Wasp** continues these traditions: it’s a light, funny movie with some great performances, smaller, more personal stakes, and it immediately followed **Avengers: Infinity War** which had literal end-of-the-entire-universe stakes. Is this new entry in the Marvel experiment good though? Yes, yes it is! Is it better than the last one? Well… maybe?

Review: Thor Ragnarok

I really miss the sci-fi movies of my childhood. Big, colourful, often funny, always exhilarating; so much fuel for imaginary spaceship battles around my bedroom. I’m sure much of this comes from older eyes and wearier brains, but I find sci-fi these days to be too bland, too unwilling to risk shapes and ideas. The resurgence of *Star Wars* has taken big steps back to the fantasy side of sci-fi, and *Guardians Of The Galaxy* got close with its amazing ship design and snappy script, but I often felt myself seeking more of the *fun*.

Well, not any more. We’ve known for a while that *Thor Ragnarok* would be colourful and funny – director Taika Waititi’s *What We Do In The Shadows* is one of my all-time favourite comedies – but what I was not prepared for was *Ragnarok* having *so* much more. Far from being all-out comedy, it’s a meaty, gorgeous slice of sci-fi bliss.

‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ gets two good new trailers and two terrible new posters

Your friendly neighbourhood Spider-Man is coming to theatres for the third first time in under two months which means the marketing is about to kick into high gear. Today we got a new trailer (which is pretty good!) and two new posters (which are pretty awful!). Let’s take a look.

The Films of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Ranked, 2016 Catch Up Edition

We’re continuing to shake off the dust around here at Awesome Friday HQ, and one easy way to do that is to update the Marvel Fanboy Marvel Cinematic Universe Rankings. Last year there were two additions to the canon of films, _Captain America: Civil War_ and _Doctor Strange_. Each were good, but where do they fit? Let’s take a look.

Last time I did this I grouped the films into three categories, this time I’m doing a straight up ranking. Feel free to agree or disagree with me. In fact, I encourage it.
