Introducing…Great Moments Of The Generation

Console

Well, that’s it.

As of 12:01am this morning, as Microsoft released the Xbox One to counter Sony’s one-week PS4 lead in the new generation, our shiny home consoles that have been the source of much gaming pleasure over the last eight years officially became last-generation technology. It’s hard to predict just where the new consoles will take us (and probably we won’t really know for another year or so), but it’s a great time to reflect and take a look at what the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii added to our gaming lexicon.

Devil’s Knot Trailer + Poster: Colin Firth Investigates The West Memphis Three

Devil's Knot

In 1993 three young boys went missing and were later found murdered. A short time later three teenagers were arrested and charged for the murders after one of the teens, a kid with an IQ of 72, confessed that they had killed the three boys after twelve hours of interrogation with no parents of lawyers present.

The teens were tried with the prosecution asserting that the killings were part of a satanic ritual and the teens were found guilty despite evidence they may not have been involved and a potential alternate suspect who was not pursued.

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire

It’s hard to believe that it has only been a year and a half since _The Hunger Games_ came out. There has been a string of young adult books adapted into movies following the success of Harry Potter, most of them featuring an up and coming young actor in the lead surrounded by Hollywood veterans, usually fighting against some oppressive regime. We can now add a whole much of fuel to the speculation fire as Warner Brothers has registered a boat load of terrible domains.

Watch This: Companion Short Film to Gravity

Gravity

Gravity is [one of the better cinema going experiences we’ve had this year](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/10/review-gravity/). There’s one pivotal scene in which Sandra Bullock’s character makes radio contact with the ground but rather than Houston as she’d hoped it’s with someone who doesn’t speak English on a short wave radio.

Now you can see the other side of that conversation. If you haven’t seen the film you may want to wait however this doesn’t spoil the plot of Gravity at all.
