Remember that [Snowpiercer series they’re cooking up](http://awesomefriday.ca/2017/05/theyre-making-a-snowpiercer-tv-series-starring-daveed-diggs-directed-by-scott-derrickson/)? Jennifer Connelly has signed on to star in it.
[Deadline has the scoop](http://deadline.com/2017/06/snowpiercer-jennifer-connelly-star-tnt-pilot-based-on-movie-1202109045/):
> Oscar winner Connelly will play Melanie Cavill, a First Class passenger who works as the Voice of the Train – responsible for making the daily announcements over its PA system. Though many in her VIP position are dismissive of the lower class passengers, Melanie is curiously fascinated by them.
This is a major win for **Snowpiercer**. Connelly is joining a production already stacked with talent including the original films director Bong Joon-ho producing, **Dr. Strange** director Scott Derrickson helming the pilot episode, and Daveed Diggs of Hamilton fame co-starring. She’s maybe the highest profile person in this so far and that’s because she’s often the best part of the projects she’s in. She’s already an Oscar, Golden Globe, and BAFTA winner, so maybe this will be a chance for her to pick up that Emmy she’s missing from her mantlepiece.
I was optimistic before about **Snowpiercer**, now I’m downright excited.
