Holy moly, the trailer for **Godzilla: King of the Monsters** might be my favourite thing to come out of comic con this year.

Comic Con catch up continues with another film that looks like DC is figuring out that fun is a good thing.

It boggles my mind that they cast Johnny Depp for this entire franchise and Colin Farrell for just the first film, but here we are. In any event, continuing the comic con catch up, here’s the new **Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald** trailer:
Oh hey, it’s SDCC catch up time!
The DC universe has been, to date, a bit….. dark. Excepting **Wonder Woman** the films have been dark and brooding and grim. If that’s your thing, cool. It hasn’t seemed to be most peoples thing though and DC seems to be listening to those people. So here’s the first trailer and poster for **Aquaman**, both of which are bright and colourful and fun looking!

Start the countdown, 4o days to the beginning of the end of Sons of Anarchy. If you haven’t watched it I suggest you spend those days catching the fuck up.
Charlie Hunnam couldn’t make it to Comic-Con this year but he sent along this little gem instead. I love the camaraderie the SOA cast has shown for so many years. Despite all the crazy gruesome things Kurt Sutter puts them through on the page they seem to have a lot of fun at work. Also if you’re looking for some insights into his process WTF Sutter is great.
Like most Star Trek fans, I’m a virgin. Not that kind though.
I’ve never been to a con. Not a proper one. I went to SXSW in 2012 but that’s a conference not a convention. Anyway we all know that’s just a place for media and tech types to get drunk and stick their hands in each other’s pants. Comic con Dallas though, that’s a proper con. Sort of.

If there’s one constant in Westeros it’s death. At ComicCon this past week HBO debuted an awesome new promo reel for the show memorializing all the characters who have died so far.
**Warning: this video is full of spoilers.** If you haven’t watched the series yet I highly suggest you give this one a pass as a lot of the character deaths are pretty major plots points.

I was reluctant to post about this but I’m finding it more and more intriguing.

In his packed San Diego Comic Con panel, *Man Of Steel* director Zack Snider brought the house down this afternoon by announcing that the *MOS* sequel will feature Batman. Here’s the symbol that got the crowds going:
As if that were not enough, he then brought out actor Harry Lennix to read out the following lines:
I want you to remember, Clark…in all the years to come…in your most private moments…I want you to remember…my hand…at your throat…I want…you to remember…the one man who beat you.
In Frank Miller’s amazing graphic novel *Dark Knight Returns*, Batman has an epic fight against Superman and the above speech is from the final moments. It’s considered one of the standout stories in both franchises, so this could be very exciting indeed.

Veronica Mars was one of those shows with a devoted fan base, so say the least. The Browncoats may have convinced Hollywood to make Serenity after Firefly was cancelled, but the Marshmellows actually paid for it to happen, and in the process made a boat load of money for Kickstarter and maybe changed some of the rules of Hollywood too.
The producers are at ComicCon right now they brought a behind the scenes video and trailer for their fan funded film. Let’s watch!

The Sherlock panel at ComicCon happened yesterday and by all accounts it was quite a bit of fun if light on the news. The highlight may be this video that stars Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch sent in to greet the attendees (they are off filming in New Zealand and couldn’t attend in person).

We’re about to get a whole bunch of nerdy news from Comic Con 2013, but just ahead of that the new Godzilla movie got [an incredible poster](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/07/godzilla-comiccon-poster-is-striking-and-amazing/). And now they have a second one. They’re two for two so far.
Let’s take a look.
