We’ve known for a while that Marvel had a film scheduled for 6 May 2016, and we’ve known for a while that _Man of Steel 2_ was bumped back to that same date. Now it turns out that _Captain America 3_ is going head to head with Superman. And also Batman.
[The Hollywood Reporter](http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mystery-solved-captain-america-3-688384) has the details.
It’s an interesting happening this, actually. Think about it:
First, Superman and Batman are the biggest superheroes on the planet. They’re both big deals, they’re certainly DC’s two biggest cash cows. Superman means something to people in a way that most other heroes don’t, and Batman has proven to be theonly hero that DC really knows what to do with when it comes to movies.
But that brings us to the other side of the coin: Captain America is one of Marvels biggest heroes, but Marvel has proven to be much better at making movies than DC, and by the time 2016 rolls around Captain America will have had 4 movies in his own story (_Captain America: The First Avenger_, _Avengers_, _Captain America: The Winter Soldier_, and _Avengers: Age of Ultron_) as well as 7 other movies in total building the universe around him.
Now, I’m sure if you read our site at all you know where I’m going to come down on this: I really hope Marvel kicks DC’s ass because I expect that Cap 3 will be the better movie and, at present, Captain America is a better realized character in a better realized world. There are millions of people who will agree and disagree with me on that one and honestly, I kind of can’t wait for the debate to start.
