There is a new Ender’s Game Trailer. Let’s take a look.
So that certainly looks… well to be honest I don’t know what to think. It shows a lot of things from the last act of the book and very little from the first and second. Yes, the action in the third act is bigger than in the first and second (think space fleet battles vs. small groups of people doing battle) but the heart of the story is in those first sections. All that action is going to be meaningless if they’ve skipped over it all.
It seems like something I shouldn’t be worried about but given how little so many movies lately have regarded their basic story elements this is a legitimate worry to me.
I might be wrong, I _hope_ I’m wrong, about that.
I also feel conflicted about seeing the movie at all. Don’t get me wrong, I love the book and I’ve read my copy several times but Orson Scott Card is a terrible person (I’m not going to bother discussing it, just google him if you don’t know already) and I really don’t want to give him any more of my money.
Ender’s Game comes out 1st November.
