Greetings programs! We’re back after a two-week break with two new movies, one hot off the presses from the largest media conglomerate in history and the other finally seeing wide release after a successful festival run last year. First up is Robert Zemeckis’ live-action remake of Disney’s Pinocchio, followed by the Senegalese action horror movie Saloum. One of these movies we really didn’t like, listen to find out which and then watch the other!

Greetings programs! This week on the Awesome Friday Movie Podcast, we take on the new Tom Hanks boy-and-his-dog-and-his-robot-post-apocalyptic-road-trip movie Finch and the most expensive movie Netflix has ever made, the Ryan Reynolds, Dwayne Johnson, and Gadot adventure heist movie Red Notice. There are a few basic premises for films that are simply pure, and two of them are the road trip movie and the boy and his dog movie. You can find countless examples of each, and I am sure they have been mashed up before as well. That’s the case again in Finch, a road trip story starring Tom Hanks and an adorable dog, but that also happens to be set after the end of the world and co-starring your latest favourite movie robot of the year.
Tom Hanks, aka ‘Americas Dad’, is one of our greatest living actors and while he has starred in films from nearly every time period and tackled almost every subject you can think of, I don’t think he’s never actually made a western.
Until now, that is. Here’s the first trailer for News of the World, the new western from director Paul Greengrass.
The upcoming christmas special which reunites the majority of the voice cast and takes the toys on a whole new adventure has a proper poster. It’s not as cool as the Mike Mignola one from ComicCon but it’s pretty cool.
You’re probably aware that I really love going to the movies. It seems self evident just based on how much I go to the movies, really. One of the great pleasures of movie going for me is those times when I get to sit down and watch one of the great actors of our time work their magic. This is the experience you will have with Captain Phillips.
