_Captain America: The Winter Soldier_ isn’t even out yet but just in case a third film didn’t feel inevitable enough [Variety is reporting that the Russo’s will be back to direct a third instalment](http://variety.com/2014/film/news/anthony-joe-russo-captain-america-3-1201073078/). When it’s green lit. Which of course neither they nor Marvel have any comment about.
Still none of this should be surprising. In fact I was kind of expecting the news after Cap 2’s first weekend to go something along the lines of “Cap 2 makes all the money, Cap 3 official green lit” or something to that effect.
Cap 2 is out on April 4th so we’ll see if all the fuss is worth it then but I, for one, hope it is.
So the Marvel Cinematic Universe is basically the US Harry Potter, in which everyone who is an actor will have a part.
This is not a complaint as they’ve just added Michael Douglas to the mix.

2013 was a good year for the movies. It had its ups and downs, but in the end there was a pretty good crop of films and more than a few great ones.
I’ve already revisited the films I was most looking forward to and the films I liked the least and now it is time to look at the films I liked best.

Another week, another adventure in the Marvel Universe! This week the team deals with a mess of Asgardian making as this episodes follows on directly from the film _Thor: The Dark World_.
Once again I’m assuming that you’ve watched the episode and spoilers will abound.

Another week, another adventure with Coulson and Company. As always I’ll be discussing what I feel are the important points in the episode and am assuming you have watched it already. Naturally spoilers will abound.

Marvel [just announced five new series for Netflix](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/11/awesome-marvel-and-netflix-sign-deal-for-daredevil-jessica-jones-iron-fist-and-luke-cage-series-mini-series-team-up/) and they certainly aren’t wasting any time. Writers have been hired for two of them!
Holy shit! Marvel and Netflix are basically doing for TV series what they did for movies. 4 Heroes. Each get their own 13 episode series, and they they work together in a mini-series team up. Holy shit.
Another new episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., the ambitious and annoying to type Marvel Universe show, aired last night. Let’s discuss!
Spoilers ahead. Obviously.

Thor is out in many place already, [that’s how our UK Office was able to see and review it already](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/11/review-thor-2-the-dark-world/) but here in North America is debuts this weekend. What better way to lead into that experience than by reminding yourself that the first Thor movie wasn’t all that good!

Ok it has been a while since I wrote about _Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D._ It’s been nearly a month actually and in that time there have been two new episodes.
There are a few reasons for this. The first is that I was on holiday. The second is that, as much as I hate to say it, I haven’t been enjoying the show. So here’s a brief recap of the episodes we missed and the some discussion about the state of the show and where it’s going.

The latest edition of Marvel’s assault on cinemas everywhere is a charming little beast. Thor was always going to be one of the more difficult characters to make the transition from inky page to silver screen, (certainly when compared to his Avengers brethren) but given most of the legwork was done in *Thor* and *The Avengers*, very little time is wasted getting on with the plot, such as it is. Rather than *The Dark World*, they should have called it *The Wibbly Wobbly Time/Space Shifting Shenanigans*. Anthony Hopkins knocks out a bit of exposition (primarily to let you know who to boo – it’s evil elves this time, led by Malekith, played by a virtually indistinguishable Christopher Eccleston) and on with the show we go.
I’ve been looking forward to this one for a while, we finally have a trailer for Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Let’s watch!
