DareDevil and Jessica Jones Netflix Series add Drew Goddard and Melissa Rosenberg as Writers

Daredevil
Jessica Jones

Marvel [just announced five new series for Netflix](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/11/awesome-marvel-and-netflix-sign-deal-for-daredevil-jessica-jones-iron-fist-and-luke-cage-series-mini-series-team-up/) and they certainly aren’t wasting any time. Writers have been hired for two of them!

News that [Drew Goddard is in talks to helm DareDevil was reported by The Wrap](http://www.thewrap.com/netflix-disney-marvel-daredevil-drew-goddard) earlier today. Goddard co-wrote and directed _The Cabin in the Woods_. He’s also worked on _Lost_, _Alias_, _Buffy The Vampire Slayer_, and _Angel_. Note those last two and the fact that his co-writer on Cabin in the Woods was Joss Whedon, probably helps his case a bit, right?

And Deadline [just broke that Melissa Rosenberg has been hired for Jessica Jones](http://www.deadline.com/2013/11/melissa-rosenberg-to-shepherd-marvels-jessica-jones-series-for-netflix/). Rosenberg has worked on _Twilight_ but more importantly she worked on the first four seasons of _Dexter_. You remember, the good ones?

All in all this is pretty good news. I’m glad they’re ploughing ahead on this stuff and I’m glad they’re looking for proven talent to do it. Now I’m excited to hear who they are going to tap for Luke Cage and Iron Fist as well as how much influence Joss Whedon, godfather of the universe, will have.

Exciting times!
