Sony finally gave us the info for their upcoming next-gen console, and there was more than enough there to make many people salivate.
They showed shiny demos (including a lot of actual gameplay) for:
- Final Fantasy 16
- Spider-Man Miles Morales
- Hogwarts Legacy
- CoD: Black Ops Cold War
- Resident Evil 8
- Deathloop
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition
- Oddworld Soulstorm
- Five Nights At Freddy’s – Security Breach
- Demon’s Souls
- Fortnite
- And a logo for God of War Ragnarok
Demon’s Souls was the real star here. Many people’s favourite PS3 game for good reason, it looks even better with a fresh lick of paint thanks to conversion experts Bluepoint. That alone would be enough to tip me towards a PS5, even without remembering the upcoming Horizon Zero Dawn sequel Forbidden West.
Finally, Sony revealed the release date of November 12th (in US and Canada, at least) with a price of $399 for the digital-only version, or $499 for Blu-Ray drive version. Those are US dollar prices, so I’ll update according when we get the Canadian pricing.
I cannot wait.
UPDATE
The Canadian pricing has just been announced:
Digital only – $499.99
Blu-Ray – $629.99
Those prices, together with the news that Sony’s (and likely third party partners’) games with have an increased RRP of $70 USD/ 70 GBP (so probably up to $90 CAD), it’s suddenly a very expensive proposition.
Also, it turns out that three PS5 poster children – Miles Morales, Horizon Forbidden West and Sackboy – will all get PS4 releases too.
