Holy moly, the trailer for **Godzilla: King of the Monsters** might be my favourite thing to come out of comic con this year.
I just can’t get over how gorgeous this trailer is. Just look at these two frames of Mothra and King Gidorah:
I love everything that is going on here. The reveal that Godzilla will be joined by / squaring off against Mothra, Rodan, and King Gidorah, is a welcome one. Everyone who said that there wasn’t enough giant monsters fighting in the last film will hopefully get more of what they want in this one. Plus, remember that this movie takes place in continuity with **Kong: Skull Island**, so Kong could show up as well. It’s exciting!
I also love the story that seems to be going on here, with Vera Farmiga being someone who is working on (with?) giant monsters, her daughter Millie Bobby Brown along for the ride and maybe figuring out her mother isn’t all she’s cracked up to be (also, how refreshing is it that this is a mother daughter story and not a father son story?), with Kyle Chandler showing up as the dad who comes to help rescue them, or at least his daughter, when things go to pot. All of these performers and great and I can’t wait to see where it goes. Sally Hawkins and Ken Watanabe are both back too, along with Charles Dance, O’Shea Jackson Jr, and Zhang Ziyi.
So a huge cast of monsters and a huge cast of giant monsters. The odds are in favour of this one and I am, as the kids say, hyped. Here’s hoping I’m not let down when May 2019 rolls around.
