Here’s the other big bit of Marvel news I missed. Age of Ultron has a teaser trailer and poster.
First things first, the teaser trailer. This was leaked a full week ahead of the announced release date so Marvel just released it. They also posted one of the best official reaction tweets of all time.
Dammit, Hydra.

Here’s the teaser:
Awesome, right? There’s a lot to talk about here.
First this kind of looks a lot like the last one. Not that’s a bad thing but this trailer hits basically all the same beats as The Avengers trailer did a few years ago: hero vs. hero, bad guy monologue, hordes of nameless faceless bad guys to fight, etc.
That said? Holy shit. Hulkbuster armour? Yes please. Crazy cobbled together Ultron? Yes please. Broken shield? Yes please. And James Spader’s voice? Ho-lee-shit perfect.
Also, using piniccho music? So perfect. Ultron trying to break free of his “strings”? Perfect. First explicit Disney reference in a Marvel trailer? Perfect.
It certainly seems clear that this is the middle part of the Avengers story, aka “the dark part”, and to be honest I’m very much OK with that. Chances are that the events of this film are going to lead right into the events of _Captain America: Civil War_ and _Thor: Ragnarok_ which means things are going to get pretty dark indeed.
And here’s a clip from the movie that Marvel released on the day they were originally going to release the trailer:
This scene right here is what makes the Marvel Cinematic Universe work. We like the characters, we like to see them getting along and working together, and ultimately we want to see them work together to beat the bad guy.
Interesting that Cap was only able to nudges Mjolnir, he should technically be as (or more, really) worthy of Thors power than Thor is. However that’s something that’s going to happen at the end of Phase three when all our heroes face off against Thanos, so it’s a nice tease for now. Plus the look on Thors face is fucking gold.
Here’s the synopsis of the film:
> Marvel Studios presents Avengers: Age of Ultron, the epic follow-up to the biggest Super Hero movie of all time. When Tony Stark tries to jumpstart a dormant peacekeeping program, things go awry and Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, including Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Black Widow and Hawkeye, are put to the ultimate test as the fate of the planet hangs in the balance. As the villainous Ultron emerges, it is up to the Avengers to stop him from enacting his terrible plans, and soon uneasy alliances and unexpected action pave the way for an epic and unique global adventure.
> Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron stars Robert Downey Jr., who returns as Iron Man, along with Chris Evans as Captain America, Chris Hemsworth as Thor and Mark Ruffalo as The Hulk. Together with Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye, and with the additional support of Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury and Cobie Smulders as Agent Maria Hill, the team must reassemble to defeat James Spader as Ultron, a terrifying technological villain hell-bent on human extinction. Along the way, they confront two mysterious and powerful newcomers, Wanda Maximoff, played by Elizabeth Olsen, and Pietro Maximoff, played by Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and meet an old friend in a new form when Paul Bettany becomes Vision.
> Written and directed by Joss Whedon and produced by Kevin Feige, Marvel’s Avengers: Age of Ultron is based on the ever-popular Marvel comic book series “The Avengers,” first published in 1963.
Tony Stark kick starts the program that will become Ultron which means that, as in the comics Hank Pym will have created Ultron. That’ll be a nice little tie in to Ant-Man later in the year. Probably speaking there’ll be a flashback to Hank Pym in the 60s or 70s meeting with S.H.I.E.L.D. About it.
I do love that they’re going full comic book on this continuity thing.
Also, I can’t creaking wait to see Paul Bettany as Vision already.
Also also, the latest scuttlebutt is that Wanda And Pietro Maximoff will be Inhumans. Maybe they’ll have parts to play in Inhumans a few years from now.
Here’s the [teaser poster they released on Twitter](https://twitter.com/Marvel/status/525094959083294721):
Simple. I like it.
_Avengers: Age of Ultron_ comes out in the spring so get ready for a marketing blitz to start in January.
It’s a good time to be a nerd.
