Trailers For As Above, So Below And The Pyramid Trap Us In Our Nightmares

Descent

A few trailers for your enjoyment this morning, both of which seem to echo the *protagonists-trapped-underground-with-terrible-ancient-evil* scenario so beautifully captured in Neil Marshall’s *The Descent* (pictured above). Come and watch.

First, *The Pyramid*, where a group of explorers unwittingly unearth something in a secret Egyptian pyramid that should have definitely remained buried:

And second, a trailer for *As Above, So Below*, where a group of explorers unwittingly unearth something in the Paris catacombs that should have definitely remained buried:

And, for reference, here’s the trailer for 2005’s *The Descent*, where a group of explorers OK I’ll stop:

Now, facetiousness aside, this is actually one of my favourite kinds of horror movies and a perky Lara Croftian female protagonist just tops it off nicely. However, it looks like the evil in *As Above, So Below* isn’t weird creatures (which is fine) but the projected hellish fears of each of the protagonists (which, as I learnt from *Event Horizon*, is not, *not* fine), so I’ll probably give that a home viewing. Still, as someone who’s a huge fan of this genre, I’m excited to have two great examples coming really soon.
