Fan Expo Vancouver 2014 – Day Three Round-Up

Spider-Man, Spider-Man, does whatever a spider can (apart from pose for photos because he’s suddenly too shy to do that even though he’ll gladly spend thirty minutes breakdancing to the music pumping out of the t-shirt stall).

I took my son to Fan Expo, and this is the only shot I have of him fully masked before the (possibly cosplay-related) shyness took hold and all he wanted to do was play in the amazing Lego section. Although, to be fair, who can blame him.

Day Three!

Aside from the grumpiness and dancing show, he managed to sneak his way into a shot I grabbed with cosplay superstar Jessica Nigri after I got her to sign *Lollipop Chainsaw* for me (I associate her with that game more than the actual creators!):

However, once he’d left, I could finally get on with the activities I’d planned for the final day – more shopping, more cosplay shots, and Bruce Campbell’s Q&A. I joined the masses who flocked into his room and we weren’t disappointed – instead of taking questions, he sat everyone down than interviewed audience members to see who could come on stage and answer some questions themselves. It was mostly hilarious, awkward at times, but Bruce kept it flowing with the relaxed snarky expertise that we all love him for. He even married a couple on stage, which may or may not have been fake as it turns out he is an ordained minister!

By the time it was over there was just a few precious hours left, so I started the first of (what felt  like) one hundred laps of all the comic and collectible stores with the remainder of my cash burning a hole in my pocket. I almost bought a huge stash of shiny things – *Star Wars* models, *Tomb Raider* figures, book, comics, games…however, I was restrained enough to just go for a few prints by Robin Thompson and a couple of last-minute Lego Minifig bargains.

However, for me, the star attraction of the day was yet more outstanding cosplay:

Because Ash should always have a *come-get-some* grin on his/her face! If you haven’t done so already, be sure to check out our [cosplay round-up from the first two days](https://awesomefriday.ca/2014/04/fan-expo-vancouver-2014-day-1-2-cosplay-gallery/) inside which you’ll find direct links to our photographer Mark’s full Flickr albums. Look out for his selection from day three coming soon!

So that’s it for another year. Yet again it’s the love and passion of the fans that will be the lasting memory of the weekend – it was a real pleasure to be in a hall rammed with people, young and old, who love their nerdy obsessions as much as I love mine. Thanks for being involved, and see you next year!
