Did you know that Keanu Reeves was working on an adaptation of the famous legend of the 47 Ronin? This is the part where I’d tell you the legend but doing so would spoil the end so I won’t. [Google it why don’t you](http://lmgtfy.com/?q=the+forty+seven+ronin).

Anyway, the movie has a trailer and some character posters and to be perfectly honest? I’m not sure what to make of it. Let’s watch!

Ok seriously, that’s just a remake of 300 except there’s only 47 and rather than wait for the enemy they are on a quest. Ok, so it’s not a remake of 300 but it’s certainly evoking that over the top stylization. I’m not 100% sure that it works for me but I’m intrigued to see it anyway.

It’s also kind of striking how much this looks like a video game movie. Colourful characters (there’s a well rounded fighter for a protagonist, a magic user, a tank, a ranged fighter) on a quest towards a magical and powerful villain? Yeah, it’s a video game movie. There’s even a glimpse of a mini boss fight!

So yeah, this looks like it’s going to be either god awful or balls to the wall so-bad-it’s-amazing. Here’s hoping for the latter. 47 Ronin comes out 25 December 2013
