Rey and Kyloe facing each other again, in the ruins of the Death Star throne room. This is an iconic shot. I have anything else to say, it’s just beautiful.

Pretty sure this is Finn running toward Rey and Kylo fighting. Still no jacket.

These two frames appear to have Rey and Kylo destroying some kind of shrine to Vader. He’s in his mask. Are they destroying it, or is she? Or is her strike being deflected into it?

Did I mention space horses? And it appears they are charing out to battle on the top of a star destroyer? or maybe a space station of some kind? Either way, just look at that imperial armada they are headed for.

That’s a lot of star destroyers.

This appears to be Rey facing Palpatine, and it looks like he’s in some kind of throne that is also life support, to me. No idea what his machinations are, but he does appear to be alive.

Yeah ok this trailer made me cry.

Ok, this is a damned good trailer. I fully expect that it represents the tone of the film but is deliberately misleading about what happens in the film. That’s Disney’s forte these days (remember how they made us think that Rey and Kylo would end up together in The Last Jedi or that time they showed the Guardians in the Avengers: Infinity War trailer, but then that shot had an entirely different set of characters in the finished film? They’re good at this, is what I am saying.

I don’t exactly know what to expect and that’s a good thing. I do still worry they are going to walk back some of the developments in The Last Jedi, but ultimately if Rise of Skywalker is good I won’t really care. What I really want is for the Skywalker saga to be put to bed so that other stories can be told in this universe. There are two new trilogies in development from some talented writers and directors, and I want to see them tell their own stories without being beholden to what’s come before.

If the tone of this trailer is any indication, I might get exactly what I want.
