There really is a whole lot of news each week, isn’t there? This week has seem some pretty big bombs drop such as Kevin Feige working on a Star Wars, VIFF starting up, Jurassic World 3 casting news, Jason Bateman directing news, Phoebe Waller-Bridge gets a truck load of cash from Amazon news, Batman news, Wes Anderson news, and Spider-man is back in the MCU news. Let’s dive right in!
Marvel Studios Head Kevin Feige is Developing a Stars War
Of course he’s a Star Wars fan. Word on the street is that Kevin Feige, the guy responsible for producing the 23 Marvel Cinematic Universe films and making Disney … <checks notes> all the money in the world is developing a Star Wars film with Kathleen Kennedy and the fine folks at LucasFilm.
You know what? Great! This guy should basically have your trust at this point. Sure, he produced that Marvel film you don’t like, but he also produced all the ones you do. Guy has a talent and why not let him put it to work at other Disney studios?
According to The Hollywood Reporter Feige also has a major star in mind for the lead role in the story he wants to tell. No word on who that is, but rather than just make a list of every star from the Marvel movies I am just going to mention the Marvel movies again and move on.
Part of my kind of hopes it’s Brie Larson though, and that they cast her as some fan favourite character from the extended universe, and it causes an internet meltdown.
No word on any other details but we’ll keep an eye out for when they happen.

Jeff Goldblum, Sam Niell, and Laura Dern all returning for Jurassic World 3
Crank your nostalgia meters up to 11, the trifecta are coming back. Deadline reports that Jeff Goldblum, Sam Neill, and Laura Dern are all set to reprise their roles as Ian Malcolm, Alan Grant, and Ellie Sattler in the forthcoming Jurassic World 3.
That’s an exciting piece of news but I am going to go ahead and temper my expectations. Remember when they told us that Goldblum was back for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and then he was in it for about thirty seconds? But who knows, maybe these three iconic characters will have an integral part in the plot alongside Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard, who I am sure have character names, too.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge Signs a Deal with Amazon
And a well deserved one, as well. Fresh off her series Fleabag winning 6 Emmys, Amazon has locked her into a deal worth $20 million USD a year.
Look, I don’t have much to say about this because it should be self evident that it’s great news. Waller-Bridge is on a hell of a streak lately between Fleabag, Killing Eve, and her Stars War and her working on more stuff is good news.

Wes Anderson’s Next Movie Is The French Dispatch’, has Stacked Cast (obviously)
Wes Anderson is making another movie with Fox Searchlight. It’s his tenth feature film, and is reported to be about a period-set piece about journalists. Yeah, that sounds like a Wes Anderson movie alright. The cast is set to incldude Benicio Del Toro, Frances McDormand, Jeffrey Wright, Adrien Brody, Timothée Chalamet, Léa Seydoux, Tilda Swinton, Mathieu Amalric, Lyna Khoudri, Stephen Park, Owen Wilson, and Bill Murray.
Look if this isn’t exciting news to you then I don’t know what to tell you. I, for one, am looking forward to whenever in 2020 this film will be released.

Jason Bateman to direct & star in new Clue Movie with Vancouver Local Ryan Reynolds
Jason Bateman in any movie is good news, so Jason Bateman starring in and directing a movie is better news. Deadline is reporting that he is in early talks for both of those things for a new movie based on the boardgames Clue, which has already been made into a cult classic in the 80s.
It’s way to early to know what the spin will be but since he’s developing this thing with Vancouver Local Ryan Reynolds is also promising. Both of these men are national treasures. You may not think of him as a director but Hollywood does, he just won an Emmy for directing on the second series of Ozark.

Jeffrey Wright & Jonah Hill are both in talks for The Batman
Sadly, neither of them are up for the role of the Caped Crusader himself, but this is good news either way. Wright is reportedly in talks for the role of Commissioner Gordon, which is pretty perfect casting if you ask me. Jonah Hill is in talks for a secret role, which to me sounds like a bad guy, but who knows.
These fine gentlemen, assuming their deals don’t fall apart, join Robert Pattinson playing Bruce Wayne / Batman for War for the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves, currently scheduled for June 2025 release.

Spider-Man is back in the MCU
As if there was any doubt something would get worked out, Spider-Man is headed back to the MCU for at least two more outings.
Kevin Feige and Marvel will produce one more Spider-Man movie for Sony and get to finish the story they were telling with Homecoming and Far From Home, and Spider-Man will appear in one more other MCU movie to boot.
No word on the financials right now but rest assured that it’s a bunch of cash. I can’t say I am surprised by this, Marvel and Sony are both companies that love large amounts of money and they can clearly make more of it together than apart, so it’s natural they would work it out (after using the news of the split to generate some pressure). I am relieved though, I really liked where the story was going at the end of Far From Home and I’m glad we’ll get an end. Huzzah!
