I am very happy that **The Dark Tower** is being made. I have exactly zero stake in the matter, I have never read any of the books and am only mildly aware of how Kings other work ties into them but seeing people positively freak out that they are happening makes me happy. Plus, I’m a fan of high concept weirdness. So let’s take a look at these two new trailers.
The first focusses on Roland, the Gunslinger.
And the second on The Man in Black
These are pretty cool. It’s a pretty standard setup, a stoic hero facing off against a melodramatic, scenery chewing bad guy, but that done well can be great. I’m pretty on board with Matthew McConaughey chewing as much scenery as he can fit between his teeth, too.
Like I sad I have no stake in this whatsoever but it looks like it might be some solid summer fun so I’ll be there on August 4th.
Here is a synopsis and below and –because I love you– all the posters released so far.
> There are other worlds than these. Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, the ambitious and expansive story from one of the world’s most celebrated authors, makes its launch to the big screen. The last Gunslinger, Roland Deschain (Idris Elba), has been locked in an eternal battle with Walter O’Dim, also known as the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey), determined to prevent him from toppling the Dark Tower, which holds the universe together. With the fate of the worlds at stake, good and evil will collide in the ultimate battle as only Roland can defend the Tower from the Man in Black.
