Speaking of Netflix trying to shake up the established way of doing things: they just signed a deal with Adam Sandler to make four movies.
[Deadline](http://deadline.com/2014/10/adam-sandler-netflix-four-films-844591/) broke the news of the deal. These four movies _won’t_ get theatrical releases like _Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: The Green Legend_ is being boycotted from (maybe as a result as of that boycott) but like it or not Adam Sandler is still a huge draw so this deal will probably work out for Netflix overall.
Personally I hope they do some diverse work. I have exactly zero interest in anything in the same vein as _Grown Ups_ but those movies made piles of cash and that’s what Netflix wants to cash in on. Ideally though they do at least one movie that’s more of a risk. Remember that Sandler was great in _Punch Drunk Love_ and has been in a variety of other dramatic roles.
No word on release for any of these but we’ll keep you updated as they develop.
As for Sandler himself if you’re wondering why he took the deal he has been quoted as saying this:
> Said Sandler: “When these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only: Netflix rhymes with ‘wet chicks.’ Let the streaming begin!”
Stay classy Adam Sandler.
