Chris Evans leads a revolution on the train holding the last of humanity on a world ruined by a new ice age. Yup, I’m on board (SEE WHAT I DID THERE?)
Let’s watch!
It’s interesting to see Chris Evans as the dark, grimy leader of a lower class revolution after more recently seeing him as Captain America, the most squeaky clean family values hero that may have ever been. I like it.
This also looks quite a bit darker and more morally ambiguous than your standard summer fare. I like it.
It also has a pretty outstanding supporting cast in John Hurt, Jamie Bell, Octavia Spencer, Ewen Bremner, Kang-ho Song, Ah-sung Ko, Tilda Swinton, Alison Pill, and Ed Harris. I like it.
And last but far from least it’s the English Language debut of Korean director Bong Joon-ho, he who made The Host among others. In case you haven’t picked up on the pattern: I like it.
Snowpiercer is getting a limited release at the end of June. Hopefully a market I can see it in gets that version (which is uncut). Apparently there is an edited version coming too.
And here’s a poster.
