So there is a full trailer for Thor: The Dark World. Let’s take a look, shall we?
There’s a lot going on here and I like that. I liked Thor, it was a pretty by the numbers action film that captured the tone of the character right, but it was a bit slow and it didn’t really have any scope. This looks like it might have all the scope.
One thing I find it’s lacking is basically any decent shots of Christopher Eccleston as Malekith the Accursed, the leader of the Dark Elves of Svartalfheim and the primary antagonist of the story. There’s a great shot of what looks like him fighting Frigga, Thors mother and another of him levitating a terrified Jane Foster, both story points that could be very interesting depending which way they go.
And I’m just going to say this: I kind of want to see Asgard get messed up in this movie. Imagine if Malekith kills Thors mom and his girlfriend and then lays waste to Asgard before Thor stops him? There’s a lot of great story potential there as well as a lot of long term continuity for the Marvel Cinematic Universe at large as well.
There are some moments in this (see, the last scene) that I wish they’d not included. That would have been way funnier unspoiled, but hopefully this means there are better moments we’re going to get to see.
Gonna be interesting! Thor: The Dark World comes out 8th November.
