I feel like I’ve seen this movie before. Two children are missing and the desperate father will do anything to get them back.
However, Denis Villeneuve is a talented director (and Canadian!) and he’s made some pretty great films most of which tackle some pretty difficult subject matter (see: Incendies or Polytechnique).
He’s also managed to round up Hugh Jackman, Maria Bello, Terrance Howard, Viola Davis, Jake Gyllenhaal, Paul Dano and Melissa Leo, a pretty all star cast of award winners and nominees.
Let’s watch!
Fair warning, I’ve watched this and there’s a chance the trailer gives away too much. I can’t confirm that it does, but I figured I’d throw the warning out there just in case.
Prisoners comes out in the fall and my butt will be in a seat. As if the cast and director weren’t enough, Roger Deakins is the Cinematographer and that man is pretty much a legend.
Either the trailer shows too much or it only shows the first (and maybe a hint of the second) act, but even if it does show too much and even if it does turn out to be predictable it’ll be worth seeing just to see all these people work together.
I sincerely doubt it’ll be predictable though simpoly by looking at Villeneuve’s filmography.
