Today at Fan Expo I spent a great deal of time walking around with my friend and talented photographer Mark. Together we took a boat load of cosplay photos. Well, to be fair, he took all the photos and I helped wrangle people. But either way let’s face it: there’s lots of cool things going on at FanExpo (Simon [already posted some photos and his take on the day](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/04/fan-expo-vancouver-day-one/)
) but the cosplay is what you want to see photos of. There’s nearly 50 photos after the jump so get comfy!
Here’s a beautiful Lara Croft to get you started, the rest are after the jump.
Sorry, in times like these, my back gains a voice of its own. I’m pretty sure that buying advance tickets should mean that you don’t have to wade through three line-ups in 90 minutes just to get through the main door.
Grumble.
Anyway, I’ve just got back from a long day pacing the aisles of Fan Expo Vancouver, checking out the shiny merchandise and trying not to gawp *too* much at the cosplay (pretty sure I failed). It’s always a strange mixture of feelings, being jammed in with a mixed crowd of average Joes and Super Heroes/Villains/Animals/Robots. It’s *so* busy, and everything is *so* focused on the price tags, that it’s very easy to let cynicism overtake as the day’s main emotion. However, what saves it is the subject. Actually, it’s the people and their *love* for the subject. What Fan Expo gives you – me – is a weekend of pure relief, from not resisting the urge to talk about the colour scheme of an X-Wing or comment on the merits of the ninth Doctor. Really, I’m not in the same league of geekdom/nerdvana as many of today’s willfully obsessed attendees, but it was such a pleasure to absorb their enthusiasm for a short while.
So, here’s a collection of tasty snaps from my camera. Matt will have plenty to add here, so watch this space!
Today we’re at FanExpo Vancouver. We’ll have a more substantial update later today and tomorrow, but keep and eye on the twitter feed and Facebook page, we’re updating those on the fly.
