Agents of SHIELD

It’s here! The full trailer for Joss Whedon’s *Avengers* TV follow-up, *Agents Of S.H.I.E.L.D.*, looks ridiculously shiny –

(Here’s where you imagine Matt got to this news first and embedded the video properly. Think of this as me adding to your anticipation.)

_**Update:*** I actually did get to this first but I scheduled it for the morning. I’ve since added a header image and the embedded video. -Matt_

Needless to say, it looks amazing. This man made Firefly. Can’t wait!

Nagging Feelings About Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3

The more I think about Iron Man the more I am of two minds on the movie. For all the reasons [I previously stated](https://awesomefriday.ca/2013/05/review-iron-man-3/) the movie works, but there’s a lot of things nagging at me.

I’m going to talk about a few of those things and this is going to contain spoilers. Pretty massive spoilers actually so if you haven’t seen the movie stop reading right now. Go see it. It’s definitely a movie you should see in theatres. Once you’ve seen it come back and read this.

Review: Iron Man 3

Iron Man 3

As a sequel not only to Iron Man and Iron Man 2 but also to The Avengers, Iron Man 3 has a lot to live up to. The Avengers changed everything, not only for the characters involved but for the Marvel Cinematic Universe as well; how do you sell these characters as solo acts again?

Luckily Marvel has employed some very smart people because as it turns out Iron Man 3 follows up nicely on a everything that preceded it, is one of the strongest stand alone films produced by Marvel to date and is probably the prefect anchor for the second phase of Marvel films.

Unfortunately in reviewing this there are going to be what could be considered some very mild spoilers involved. I promise that I won’t reveal anything big and keep the rest to a minimum, but if you want to go in blind (which I recommend you do) then just know that this is a movie I absolutely recommend seeing and stop reading right now. If you want to know what I think in detail, hit the jump.

Awesome: Marvel Confirms Daredevil Rights Now Back In The Fold

20130423-120815.jpg

[According to Newsarama](http://www.newsarama.com/film/kevin-feige-daredevil-marvel-studios.html):

> Speaking with Newsarama Monday at the Iron Man 3 press junket, the Marvel Studios president of production told us at the end of our conversation that, as previously speculated, the Daredevil rights are now under the Disney/Marvel umbrella. We directly asked Feige if the reports that Marvel Studios now had the rights to Daredevil were accurate, to which he replied, “To Daredevil? Yes.”

> In August, it was reported that previous rights-holder Fox had a deadline of Oct. 10 to put a Daredevil film into production before the rights returned to Marvel, a deadline that then passed. Though it was widely assumed this meant the character was now under Marvel control, no official announcement followed.

I know some of you only have experience with Daredevil by way of the 2003 movie, which a lot of people don’t like, but the character is great. Think Batman, but without the money and with actual super powers.

So I chalk this up as a good thing. The question now is, what are they going to do with him?

Get a Load of These New Iron Man Armours

So the wrost kept secret in the world is that in Iron Man 3 the newest and shiniest suit you’ve seen in all the posters and trailers is called “Mark XLVII” and that the reason for that is that Tony has built 40 new suits between the Mark VII seen in the Avengers and Iron Man 3.

Well, we’re starting to get a glipse of them thanks to the [Iron Man Facebook Page](https://www.facebook.com/ironman)

Here’s what we have so far:

Heartbreaker is my favourite so far, mostly because it looks so much like the suit from The Ultimates.

More after the jump.

New Iron Man 3 TV Spot Confirms Pepper Wearing a Suit

ironman3-pepper

Yeah, you read that right. There’s a new Iron Man TV Spot and Pepper is wearing the suit in it. Watch:

This is the first of the Iron Man 3 trailers to piss me off. This is pepper wearing the new armour (doesn’t look like her own) which means at some point she’s going to uit up and it’s probably going to be a surprise to her and _it should be a surprise to us too._ I’m sure there is more going on than just her wearing the suit and there’s a lot to be said for wondering _”what’s she going to do in the suit??”_ but for myself I’d rather have been completely surprised by it.

Well, maybe not completely surprised since Pepper gets her own suit in the comics, but I’d rather have not known it was coming anyway.

Awesome: Robert Redford in Talks to Join the Marvel Cinematic Universe

Robert Redford

[Mike Fleming Jr. Writing for Deadline](http://www.deadline.com/2013/03/marvel-surprise-robert-redford-in-talks-to-star-in-captain-america-the-winter-soldier/):

> EXCLUSIVE: Here is a fun Marvel scoop. I’m hearing that Robert Redford is in discussions to join the cast of Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier, the sequel that brings Chris Evans back as the shield-carrying superhero. Redford is in talks to play a senior leadership role in S.H.I.E.L.D., the superhero collective run by Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury character.

Please let this be true. Redford would make an amazing addition to the film and the MCU. No word on who he’d be playing specifically but it’s sounding like Nick Fury might be subbordinate to him (as in, he might be one of the council members as seen in Avengers 2). My favourite theory so far though is thathe might turn out to be original Nick Fury and that Nick Fury is just a codename that Samuel L Jackson’s character currently happens to have. Hey, it could happen.

Word is that if he signs Redford will sign a Marvel standard contract which means he’d be showing up in any/all future marvel films too.

As everyone else is pointing out, that’s great, but also kind of ironic for the guy who founded the biggest indie film festival there is to become a regular player in some of the biggest blockbusters of the next few years.

Either way, I’m excited to see this happen.

Trailer: Deadpool

Deadpool

If you’re not familiar with Marvel’s anti-hero Deadpool, maybe you should go and make yourself familiar because his game looks like it might be balls out fun.

I love it. The things that make Deadpool great, that is that he’s clearly insane and breaks the fourth wall, appear to be here in spades and also the game just looks like it might have some pretty insane combat.

Let’s not make an mistakes, this will probably be the most juvenile game to come out this year, but it looks like it might be a lot of fun too.

Trailer: Iron Man 3 Theatrical Trailer

Iron Man 3

So this dropped this morning at 9am. I’m a little behind, but thats because I’ve been watching it. Without further ado:

As you’re probably aware we’re pretty excited here at Awesome Friday HQ for Iron Man 3. The story they are adapting, Extremis, is one of the best of recent years plus the infusion of Shane Black’s style and humour could potentially make this the best of the Iron Man series, maybe even the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date.

I just realized that I may have slightly betrayed how high my hopes actually are. Either way, you know my butt will be in a seat come May 3rd.

Awesome: Halle Berry to Return as Storm in “X-Men: Days of Future Past”

Storm

[Deadline reporting](http://www.deadline.com/2013/03/halle-berry-to-return-as-storm-in-bryan-singers-x-men/):

> Deadline has confirmed the actress will reprise her role as Storm in 20th Century Fox’s X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

Granted, they don’t have any other details, but I personally hope they have as many of the actors back as possible so they can merge all the timelines and maybe set out on continuity and go from there.

What, it could happen.
