Review: ‘The Mitchells vs the Machines’ continues Lord & Miller’s ongoing streak of great films

THE MITCHELLS VS. THE MACHINES

Families are tough. You don’t get to choose them, and you may not fit in with them, but unless you are one of the unlucky ones, your family will never stop trying and will always have your back. The Mitchells vs The Machines is the latest film that will teach you this lesson, that no matter what is going on in your life and how much you don’t relate to them, your parents will have your back. Most people learn this over time as they grow and mature. Katie Mitchell learns on a road trip with her parents that happens to coincide with a robot uprising.

Spoiler alert, this movie is amazing.

The new ‘Halloween’ poster is gorgeous

There’s a new Halloween movie coming this fall from Danny McBride and David Gordon Green. Yes, the guys from Eastbound and Down and Your Highness. Now, I know what you’re thinking, but this thing looks great. More on that in a minute though because they just released an incredible new poster for it.

Alien: Covenant Review: Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!

I know what you want to know. “Is it good?”

Turns out the sequel to Prometheus –and it is very much more a sequel to that movie than it is a prequel Alien— is not only good, but retroactively makes Prometheus better. What are the odds of that?

Something For The Weekend: This Is The End

This Is The End

This Is The End is the funniest movie I’ve seen this year. That alone should be enough of a recommendation, really. Here’s what I said in my review back in June:

It’s strange to think that This Is The End is the funniest movie of the year so far. At first glance it looks like a vanity project where Seth Rogen and Evan Goldberg just wanted to work with all their friends and then setting that idea against the biblical end of the world. It really feels like it shouldn’t work at all but you know what? It really really does.

To put it succinctly: I haven’t laughed that hard all year.

And I haven’t yet since. This Is The End now available to buy or rent so why not do that this weekend? Full disclosure, if you use the links below (which if you have an ad blocker turned on you may not be able to see) we’ll get a cut of the sale. That cut helps us keep the lights on and the beer fridge stocked though so, you know, please use the links below.
