‘The Queen’s Gambit’ Trailer: What will it cost?

What is the cost of genius? Based on the 1983 novel of the same name, The Queen’s Gambit will follow Anya Taylor-Joy as a chess prodigy, and attempts to answer just that.

You should probably save the date on this one.

The Queen‘s Gambit is, and this this a true story, one of just a handful of books that received universal acclaim from my book club. Granted, that’s only a sample size of eight people, but we never agree on anything.

The book is incredibly forthright about a lot of things, including the struggle of genius and the struggle that is alcoholism. In fact, it is one of the most honest portrayals of the latter thing that I can remember.

Needless to say with Scott Frank on board as writer (he was nominated for Oscars for Out of Sight and Logan) and director and Anya Taylor-Joy on board in the lead, this limited series is pretty high up on my watch list.

The entire limited series will debut on Netflix on October 23rd and also stars Bill Camp, Thomas Brodie-Sangster, Moses Ingram, and Harry Melling.
