Poster Gallery: James Gunn’s ‘The Suicide Squad’, Wonder Woman ’84, Black Adam, and The Batman DC Fandome Posters

While I was busy covering Fantasia Fest DC had an event to announce their upcoming slate of projects. There was a ton of news out there that you’ve probably seen, but I really like these posters.

The Suicide Squad

James Gunn has already proven that he can take a band of losers and make them into a team you care about with Guardians of the Galaxy, and I, for one, am excited to see him bring that energy to DC’s team of d-list villains trying to do good.

First up: the team poster.

And now one for each member of the team:

Look these posters don’t show all that much, but they do give a feel for the comic book origins of each character, and also the tone they’re going for.

I’m a little disappointed at the lack of Will Smith, but given the cast of thousands that Gunn is working with here I’m sure that will be a fleeting feeling.

Here’s one more team poster, which is pretty awesome.

The Suicide Squad is currently scheduled for an August 2021 release, and if the world hasn’t burned down by then I will either be there opening day or when it’s safe to do so. Whichever comes second.

Wonder Woman 1984

This movie is still scheduled for this fall and this poster proudly declares that the film will be in theatres.

I feel like that’s a bit of a bold promise given the ongoing plague situation, but we’ll see. I’m really looking forward to WW84 but as with The Suicide Squad I’ll be there once it’s safe.

On a more positive note, this poster is bold and striking in all the right ways. I love that they are leaning into the bright 1980s aesthetic.

Black Adam

Dwayne Johnson has been attached to Black Adam for what feels like forever now, and the film finally has a teaser poster and a December 2021 release date.

Black Adam

In case it’s not clear, Black Adam is basically a bad guy version of Shazam. That’s pretty much all this poster shows though. I do wonder how they’re gonna make the bad guy the protagonist, but the best news here is that Jaume Collet-Serra is directing this thing. In case you’re not familiar, Collet-Serra’s stock and trade is high grade B-movies, like Non-Stop, The Commuter, and The Shallows. He’s exactly the kind of guy you want in charge of something like this.

The Batman

And last but not least, the dark knight gets two teaser posters that show off that Matt Reeves The Batman is going to be dark and gritty in all the same ways that every other Batman movie has been lately, and, well, I trust Matt Reeves but my first impression of this movie is only fine.

The Batman is scheduled for release in the fall of 2021. Here’s hoping we get there.

So there’s your posters from DC Fandome. Which is your favourite??
