‘Lovecraft Country’ and ‘Da Five Bloods’ star Johnathan Majors to join the MCU in Ant-Man 3

Johnathan Majors is already having a hell of a year with his performances in Lovecraft Country and Spike Lee’s Da Five Bloods, and now he’s hopping on Marvel Cinematic Universe train.

Variety reports that Majors is likely playing Kang the Conqueror, a pretty major classic time travelling supervillain.

In the comics Kang is a 31st century descendant of Reed Richards, the Fantastic Four’s Mr. Fantastic, who after conquering a war torn future decides that conquering Earth in it’s heyday might be a better idea.

GIven Marvel’s talent for remixing their stories for the movies to keep them fresh and a little unpredictable I kind of doubt this will be all there is to the story, or if it will even be the story, but the movie is 2 years away so we’ll just have to wait and see.

Majors is a a hot, up and comer, and exactly the kind of performer that the MCU likes: talented, has lots of buzz, and can’t yet command a huge salary. His turns this year in Da Five Bloods and Lovecraft Country should be more than enough to make this exciting for you though.

Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly are both returning for Ant-Man 3, or Ant-Man & The Wasp 2, or whatever it will be called, along with Peyton Reed returning to direct for the third time.

Ant-Man Three is scheduled for a 2022 release, assuming we get there.
