Aldis Hodge joins Dwayne Johnson’s ‘Black Adam’ film as Hawkman

Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam film is starting to heat up, folks. At DC Fandome a few months ago it was announced that the Justice Society of America, the golden age version of the Justice League, will be part of the story. Now we have our first cast member: Aldis Hodge as Carter Hall, Hawkman.

Hawkman is an ancient Egyptian who, along with his lovers, is fated to be reincarnated every generation. His suit is also made out of “nth metal” which allows him to fly, and he prefers a mace as his primary weapon. Yes, comics are weird.

It feels like Aldis Hodge has been on the rise forever, first with the TV series Leverage, and more recently with appearances in Straight Outta Compton and this years The Invisible Man. Black Adam is likely going to be a pretty big deal, and I for one hope this is the movie that makes him a proper movie star.

Black Adam is currently scheduled for a December 2021 release, but the world is in flux so don’t be surprised if that changes.

Hodge announced the casting on his Instagram, which you can see here.
