Not Awesome: T.J. Miller leaving ‘Silicon Valley’

In a classic good news / bad news situation, HBO has renewed the awesome **Silicon Valley** for a fifth season, but T.J. Miller won’t be in it.

According to [The Hollywood Reporter](http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tj-miller-exiting-hbos-silicon-valley-1007767) this news comes just hours after announcing that the show (and **Veep**!) has been renewed. Here’s a quote from the producers:

> “The producers of Silicon Valley and T.J. Miller have mutually agreed that T.J. will not return for season 5,” HBO said in a statement. “In Erlich Bachman, T.J. has brought to life an unforgettable character, and while his presence on the show will be missed, we appreciate his contribution and look forward to future collaborations.”

I have exactly zero inside knowledge here but I’m gonna go ahead and guess that his schedule (and maybe salary) are keeping him from returning. He was already one of, if not the, highest profile member of the main cast going in and he’s done nothing but get higher profile gigs going in.

The good news is that you’ll have plenty of opportunity to see Miller in the near future. He has a comedy special coming, **Deadpool 2** is on its way, and a bunch of other projects are in the works.

As a small bit of consolation, here again is that outtake reel of him hurling insults at Stephen Tobolowsky for nearly five minutes from last season.
