Jupiter Ascending was originally slated for release this past July and many people, myself included, were looking forward to it. Then it got pushed back to February 2015 and we’re not entirely sure why. The Wachowskis say they need more time to finish it up but is the film a mess? Were they worried it couldn’t compete?
Well there’s a new trailer and it looks like it can compete.
Holy shit. The scope of this movie is clearly a lot bigger than previously hinted at and the effects are even more mind-blowing than they were before. I know that big effects pictures can go either way but The Wachowskis are good storytellers so I’m very much hoping this goes the way of “holy shit that was awesome.”
6th February is the new release date for Jupiter Ascending and now it’s one of my most anticipated of next year.
Channing Tatum and Mila Kunis star in “Jupiter Ascending,” an original science fiction epic adventure from filmmakers Lana and Andy Wachowski (The Matrix).
Jupiter Jones (Kunis) was born under a night sky, with signs predicting that she was destined for great things. Now grown, Jupiter dreams of the stars but wakes up to the cold reality of a job cleaning other people’s houses and an endless run of bad breaks. Only when Caine (Tatum), a genetically engineered ex-military hunter, arrives on Earth to track her down does Jupiter begin to glimpse the fate that has been waiting for her all along—her genetic signature marks her as next in line for an extraordinary inheritance that could alter the balance of the cosmos.
