Marvel is looking to own your TV set the same way they currently own your local movie theatre.
[HitFix has the story](http://www.hitfix.com/the-fien-print/abc-renews-agents-of-shield-and-orders-agent-carter-from-marvel). ABC announced that Agent Carter will be set in 1946 as Peggy Carter balances being a woman in 1946 with being a secret agent. There’s a lot of potential here, we may get to see which of the Howling Commandos she finally marries. It seems like it might be a tightrope walk though t depict the beginnings of S.H.I.E.L.D. but also have to depict the beginnings of Hydra within S.H.I.E.L.D. The problem with Prequels is that they also have to deal with telling stories that don’t disrupt the existing continuity they lead to so here’s hoping that doesn’t get too complicated either.
Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has also been renewed. It seems inevitable that it would be, it’s not the best show and it’s not the big spectacular ratings winner that ABC expected but it’s doing decently and Disney/Marvel is pretty committed to keeping people interested. Hopefully they can capitalize on the uptick in quality and momentum they gained post _Winter Soldier_. Hopefully. Maybe.
The other thing to consider is that between these two shows and the series on Netflix Marvel is going to have at least 3 shows on small screens next year. Maybe 4 or 5 depending how the Netflix shooting schedule happens. That’s kind of insane, and it’s going to be a lot of continuity to keep track of.
They really do want be on whatever screen you’re in front of.
