UPDATE: DEBUNKED: Rumour: Disney To Continue Indiana Jones a la James Bond, Potentially With Bradley Cooper

Indiana Jones

_**Update**: sources tell [SlashFilm that this rumour isn’t true.](http://www.slashfilm.com/bradley-cooper-indiana-jones/). I still think it’s the best idea to move forward with though. Original post follows_

Remember how one of the problems with _Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull_ was that Harrison Ford is, well, kinda too old for the role now? Turns out that Disney may end up recasting the role but rather than rebooting the franchise as is all the rage these days they may just go the route of James Bond and make more films with new actors, and apparently at the top of the list is Bradley Cooper.

[Latino Review](http://latino-review.com/2014/03/exclusive-indiana-jones-taking-james-bond-path/):

> Spielberg and Lucas always saw Indy as their own James Bond type movies and now it appears that they might look like 007 even more.

> Our ever reliable sources (same folks who told us about Rocket Raccoon) are informing us that while Harrison Ford might still play Indiana Jones in the next film of the franchise, the window of making that happen is getting smaller and smaller.

> There is a date and if Indiana Jones 5 is not moving forward by then, the studios are 100% prepared to recast a younger Dr. Jones and ready up a new trilogy.

> Let’s be realistic, Harrison is not the box office draw he once was and he is only getting older.

> Don’t think of it as a reboot but just recasting the same way the James Bond (Sean Connery, Roger Moore, Pierce Brosnan, Daniel Craig) movies have been doing for the better part of five decades.

Let me first stress that this is all rumor, however Latino Review has been pretty good at this historically so it’s worth at least talking about.

I think this is probably the best way forward for the franchise. To many people Harrison Ford _is_ Indiana Jones however to many people [insert Bond actor here] _is_ James Bond, and the Indiana Jones franchise already has television series and other media included.

Moreover there’s really no need to reboot when there are all kinds of adventures that Indy could go on set before, during, and after the time frame of the original trilogy. Hell, the second movie was technically a prequel so it’s not like we haven’t seen them play around with the timeline.

All this comes down to is that Indiana Jones isn’t so much a character as he is archetype, and as long as they cast someone with good comic timing, a square jaw and a decent physique it’ll work. Tell me Bradley Cooper isn’t the perfect choice for that?

What do you guys think? Is this the best way forward for the franchise?
