Awesome: Next Marvel One-Shot ‘All Hail The King’ to Feature The Mandarin in Prison

All Hail the King

The Marvel One-Shot films have all been pretty great, and each one has been better than the last. EW has the news that the next one will feature Ben Kingsley reprising his role from Iron Man 3. Beware: Iron Man 3 spoilers ahead.

[Entertainment Weekly](http://insidemovies.ew.com/2014/01/09/marvel-one-shot-ben-kingsley-mandarin-all-hail-the-king/):

> As the short begins, Slattery has agreed to do his first interview with a documentary filmmaker (Argo’s Scoot McNairy), who is chronicling the aftermath of Tony Stark’s latest saga. In the photo above, they are seen sitting in Slattery’s surprisingly expansive prison quarters, which is adorned by memorabilia from his less than stellar past. Note the King Lear poster on the back wall (three and a half stars) which, as Iron Man 3 told us, was once “the toast of Croydon — wherever that is.”

> McNairy’s documentary not only delves into the actor’s past (including a look back at an outrageous Miami Vice-like failed TV pilot from the ‘80s) but is trying to figure out if The Ten Rings is really out there, and possibly targeting the jailed thespian for making a mockery of their organization.

In case you haven’t seen the movie, Marvel pulled off a big surprise by marketing the film with Kingsley as the villain and then it turned out he was just a washed up drug addicted actor being forced to play a part. Shocking and hilarious, Trevor was one of the more memorable moments of the year.

I’m excited to see where this goes, how Trevor is coping with prison and what the real 10 Rings organization may be up to.

The whole thing was written and directed by Drew Pearce (co-writer of Iron Man Three). The above linked Entertainment Weekly has a bunch more photos and an interview with Pearce. Too bad we’ll have to wait until the _Thor: The Dark World_ BD/DVD release in February to see it.
