Not Awesome: Tom Clancy Has Passed Away

Tom Clancy

Tom Clancy, author of _The Hunt for Red October_, _Patriot Games_, _Clear and Present Danger_, and numerous other books as well as a host of video games and movies and part owner of the Baltimore Orioles, has died at age 66.

[The National Post](http://arts.nationalpost.com/2013/10/02/tom-clancy-dead-at-age-66-was-best-selling-author-of-numerous-military-thrillers/):

> Best-selling author Tom Clancy died in a Baltimore hospital at the age of 66 Tuesday night, his publisher confirmed to the New York Times.

> A cause of death was not provided.

> Clancy was famous for his complex jargon-filled military and espionage thrillers such as The Hunt for Red October, The Sum of All Fears, Red Storm Rising, and Patriot Games. Numerous films and video-games have been based on his work.

> Clancy had said his dream had been simply to publish a book, hopefully a good one, so that he would be in the Library of Congress catalog.

I’m not gonna lie, I have generally loved the man writing, however it’s really _The Hunt for Red October_ that sticks with me. I have read that book cover to cover numerous times and the 1990 film would probably be in my all time top ten if I ever dared attempt to write my all time time ten.

He will be missed.
