Awesome: Behind The Scenes of Pacific Rim’s Prologue

Pacific Rim

You’re probably aware that we here at Awesome Friday HQ loved Pacific Rim. It didn’t do so hot in domestic theatres, however it’s still an amazingly crafted film. Here’s a chance to see some of that craft work.

Mirada, a company founded by director Guillermo del Toro along with Guillermo Navarro (Director of Photography) and Mathew Cullen and Javier Jimenez put together the prologue of the film. That sequence, just 2 odd minutes long, does a brilliant job of setting up the movie and the world we get to inhabit.

So here’s a video that outlines all of the effects in that sequence. It’s impressive stuff to say the least. In fact I don’t usually like behind the scenes stuff (sometimes it makes it too hard to suspend disbelief) but this is just too damn impressive to not share.
