Matt and I experienced Pacific Rim last night and, boy, are you in for a treat. Imagine if you tapped into your eight-year-old head and made a big budget movie of the battle carnage. It’s just beautiful.

Yoji Shinkawa is a Japanese artist with a totally unique visual style. Painting in energy-filled swathes of shade, he’s best known for his work with Metal Gear Solid and Zone Of The Enders creator Hideo Kojima. Here’s a distinctive Solid Snake that you may recognise:
To promote the 3D release of Pacific Rim, Shinkawa was asked to design an exclusive poster that would be given out at select Regal Cinemas in the States. Here’s the result:
Oh. Hell. Yes. Despite the minor spoiler, it’s such a perfect capturing of the elegance and beauty of the movie’s Jaeger robots.
If you’re heading to out to see Pacific Rim tonight, I hope this gives you a little shiver of excitement. The movie itself is exactly the way you think it’s going to be, and it’s as good as you could have ever hoped.
