Every year, the gaming industry gathers in Los Angeles for the Electronic Entertainmeant Expo for the first taster of the latest handware, software and game exclusives that will be vying for your attention over the next twelve months. It’s always a massive, industry-only event, even when the press events themselves turn out to be disappointments. There will be none of that this year, though – with the twin giants of Microsoft and Sony ready to pull back the curtain on their respective next-gen consoles, it’s going to be stacked with big names and attractive soundbyes.
The individual press events will be loud and flashy, each company hopefully taking full opportunity to snag the essential hardware pre-orders. It all starts on Monday 10th June:
Microsoft – 9:00 AM – 11:00 AM PDT
Electronic Arts – 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM PDT
Ubisoft – 3:00 PM – 4:00 PM PDT
Sony – 6:00 PM – 8:00 PDT
I’ll be live-blogging Microsoft’s and Sony’s press event and will have all their revelations as they get announced (along with a considerable amount of huffing and eye-rolling, inevitably), then in the evening you’ll be able to read a summary of the news from EA (FIFA, Titan) and Ubisoft (Assassin’s Creed 5, 6 & 7).
It’s worth noting that Nintendo have removed themselves from the glizty event this year and will be doing a special Nintendo Direct online broadcast at 7AM PDT on Tuesday 11th June. I’ll also update the site with all their goodness.
Then, on Wednesday, Matt and I are getting together to record a special podcast to give our world-weary and cynical views on all the major tasty tidbits. That will probably be ready for you on Thursday morning, and I’m sure it will be an entertaining listen!
So keep an eye on the site and on our respective Twitter feeds for all the latest E3 news, as it happens!
