Here’s another ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ trailer (and posters) to confuse you

Michael Bay brings his signature “everything in the shot must be moving and the camera must be moving and something must also be exploding” style back to the Transformers franchise. He keeps promising to stop making these. I wish he would.

There has been marketing for this for ages and I still have no idea what is going on. I mean, I have an idea about a Transformers planet trying to eat the earth and Optimus Prime being bad for some reason and Anthony Hopkins cashing a massive paycheque, but not much else.

Here’s the synopsis, to further confuse you:

> Humans and Transformers are at war, Optimus Prime is gone. The key to saving our future lies buried in the secrets of the past, in the hidden history of Transformers on Earth.

This whole idea that they have been here forever is being treated as revelatory, but wasn’t that literally the plot of one of the earlier Transformers movies? They all blur together in my mine but I am pretty sure it was. There was a crotchety old man Transformer, with a cane, that transformed into an SR-71? Am I taking crazy pills here?

Also, a destroyed Transformer can re-form himself? So Transformers are immortal? Under what circumstances would they not be able to do this? Are we going to see previously destroyed Transformers? This series cares little or continuity and it’s giving me a headache.

Anyway, here also are three posters Character posters for Anthony Hopkins and a transformer of some description, and also the a poster so bad it’s the new front-runner for worst movie poster of the year.

**Transformers: The Last Knight** comes out June 23rd, at which point hopefully at least some of this makes sense.
