Awesome: ‘Wonder Woman’ made over $100 Million at the box office; Patty Jenkins talks sequel.

It’s official: Wonder Woman brought in $103 million dollars over the weekend making it the highest grossing opening weekend for a female directed film, ever.

The previous record holder was Sam Taylor-Johnson’s 50 Shades of Grey, which brought in $85 million. Also worth noting, the film did an additional $122 million internationally which would put it ahead of the opening weekend grosses for The Avengers, Guardians of the Galaxy, Thor, Iron Man, Dr. Strange, and Man of Steel just to name a few.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Jenkins is already on the ball with a story idea.

“The story will take place in the U.S., which I think is right,” she said back in April in an interview with EW. “She’s Wonder Woman. She’s got to come to America. It’s time.”

While nothing official has been announced yet it is hard to imagine that a sequel wouldn’t happen and that Jenkins wouldn’t be asked to return.

Now let’s hope they don’t piss away all this good will by doing something stupid like making her a damsel in distress in the upcoming Justice League.
