‘Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets’ Trailer is something else

Luc Besson is known for making visually stunning movie but this is just nuts.

There’s a lot going on in this trailer but suffice to say that it looks like a visual feast. Sure, there’s a ton of CGI, but if it’s done right this might be the most colourful thing we see all year. Knowing director Luc Besson I’m pretty optimistic. Dane DeHaan and Cara Delevingne also look like they’re having fun and that counts for a lot. Also, I dig how they not only have futuristic combat suit, but tacky tropical shirts in their repertoire.

I also dig the slow cover of Gangsta’s Paradise.

Here’s the official synopsis of the film:

> In the 28th century, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are a team of special operatives charged with maintaining order throughout the human territories. Under assignment from the Minister of Defense, the two embark on a mission to the astonishing city of Alpha—an ever-expanding metropolis where species from all over the universe have converged over centuries to share knowledge, intelligence and cultures with each other. There is a mystery at the center of Alpha, a dark force which threatens the peaceful existence of the City of a Thousand Planets, and Valerian and Laureline must race to identify the marauding menace and safeguard not just Alpha, but the future of the universe.

I am ready to love this movie folks. We’ll find out if it’s awesome on July 21st.
