They’re making a Snowpiercer TV series starring Daveed Diggs & directed by Scott Derrickson.

I’m always wary of things I love being adapted these days, but this is good news.

Daveed Diggs, he who won a Tony Award for originating the role of Lafayette & Thomas Jefferson in Hamilton, has signed on to star in a television series adaptation of **Snowpiercer**. Diggs is a hell of a talent so tis is superb casting news. According to [IndieWire](http://www.indiewire.com/2017/05/daveed-diggs-snowpiercer-scott-derrickson-tnt-1201818209/)

> Diggs will star as Layton Well, “a prisoner barely surviving the harsh conditions in the tail end of the train. A quiet thinker who spends his days sniffing the industrial-waste-turned-drug Chronole and tending to his cage full of rats, Layton becomes a reluctant participant in a struggle that could upend life on the train.”

But wait, there’s more! Scott Derrickson, director of last years **Doctor Strange** has signed on to direct the pilot as well as executive produce alongside the films director Bong Joon-ho and producers Park Chan-wook, Tae-hun Lee, and Dooho Choi. This is pretty all around great news.

It’ll be interesting to see how the rest of the cast shakes out and if it’s a whole new set of characters, especially since Tilda Swinton’s Minister Mason is effectively irreplaceable.

**Snowpiercer** was my favourite movie of 2014, and with Diggs in the lead and the production team returning I can’t help but be optimistic about this series, whenever it finally comes out.
