Mommy Trailer: VIFF Hit Is Canada’s Selection To Compete For Best Foreign Language Oscar

Mommy

Xavier Dolan’s VIFF has been officially selected to compete for the foreign language oscar. Hooray! There are no more showings at VIFF. Boooo! There’s a trailer you can watch! Hooray!

I didn’t get into the screening of _Mommy_ at VIFF this week but I haven’t talked to a single person who did see it who didn’t adore it. It was a big hit at Cannes this year also so chances are it could be a contender for the big award.

Apparently it manages to not be too grim and not be too sweet, hitting that magical middle ground of being believable and heart swelling and heart breaking (at least according to [Vanity Fair](http://www.vanityfair.com/vf-hollywood/xavier-dolan-mommy-cannes-review)).

So it’s pretty much a must see. There are no more showings at VIFF so check it out when you can.
