1987 is an autobiographical film by writer/director Ricardo Trogi. He looks back at that year in his life and all the wacky hijinks that he got up to. The film is self-deprecating, honest, and funny, but it also suffers from some of the same problems that most teen coming-of-age comedies do.

David Cronenberg makes two kinds of films: Great ones and weird ones. I’m honestly not sure which category Maps to the Stars falls into. On the one hand, it’s a biting indictment of Hollywood and the stars who live there and features some fantastic performances, but on the other, it’s a muddled mess of slow-moving plots, some of which are never resolved.

Maybe you [read my review](https://awesomefriday.ca/2014/09/destiny-bang-zoom-eventually-to-the-moon/). Maybe you took the message – that it’s all about the finely-tuned shooting and the loot rather than story progression – and bought a copy to experience it yourself. Maybe you’re enjoying it as much as I was. It was going so well up to a point, but following a few moments of realisation, it’s sat dormant in my hard drive for a week.
So, what changed?
Doctor Who and the Case of Dramatic Irony
The last week has seen me sidetracked with a big project and thus totally neglecting my self-appointed duties as Awesome Friday’s TV correspondent. I promise there will be full analysis of the Fall TV Premieres to come… just as soon as I sit in front of my DVR and mainline them. In spite of my distraction the Doctor would not be ignored, at least not after Sunday Football was through. This must be how Clara feels. Now if only I had her hair. There’s a sentence you’d never predict you’d get to say.
The end credits of _22 Jump Street_ are hilarious. ‘John Wick’ Trailer + Poster: Don’t Mess With Keanu’s Dog
Keanu Reeves loves two rings in this movie: his sweet ride and his sweet puppy dog. Then Alfie Allen comes along and takes one and kills the other. Too bad for him it turns out Keanu Reeves has a degree in ass kickery with a minor in shooting people in the face.
