Every time someone makes a movie out of some property from my childhood I pretty much expect it to be a cheap cash in. Call me cynical (I do) but there it is. Fortunately this isn’t always the case and 21 Jump Street is one of the best examples of what a movie version of something from my childhood can be.
Channing Tatum and Jonah Hill both shine in a great story about friendship and dealing with your past which is cleverly written full of meta humour which makes fun of basically every aspect of this kind of film making. Directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller bring their awesome touch as well, the film has great timing and pacing. At the end of the day it’s hilarious and fun and a great addition to your library especially now as the sequel is due in a weeks time.
