The fine folks at Valve have done short films before –including a a whole series to introduce each class– but this is something a little different. The red team find out they only have a few days to live and this is how they decide to spend it. The film is called Expiration Date and you should watch it.

The Legend of Korra – Book 3: Change Season Premiere

LoK 3.01-3.03 title

I am delighted to be in a position to write this post, as I didn’t expect Book 3: Change would air for several more months. Given Nickelodeon’s long-standing silence on Book 3, the timing of the Book 2 Blu-ray release, and the Fall release of the upcoming game, it looks as if Nickelodeon was setting up Book 3 for a late summer or early fall release. When MundoNick accidentally leaked episodes 3-6 of Book 3 couple weeks back, Nickelodeon surprised us all — they reacted by releasing the season early, starting with a three-episode premier on June 27. There wasn’t even enough time to build up hype: a leak, an announcement, then BOOM! Three episodes.

I was wary. While Book 2 won me over by the end, it suffered from numerous flaws I discussed in last year’s recaps. Well, I’m pleased to say that Book 3 is off to an extremely strong start. My recap and thoughts are below — spoilers ahead!

Review: Transformers: Age of Extinction Is Bad

Transformers: Age of Extinction

There’s going to be a vocal contingent that argues that Age of Extinction is the best Transformers movie. It isn’t. It’s not the worst (here’s looking at you Revenge of The Fallen) but it’s really not the best either. That whole discussion is kind of ridiculous though because when you stop and think you’ll realize that you’re arguing which f these terrible movies is the least terrible. If you think that’s _Age of Extinction more power to you because the movie does fix a few of the problems that the previous three had but it also introduces a bunch more problems to deal with.

duet-keane-b

If, like me, you consider the high point of modern Disney movies to be all about Ariel, Beast, and Aladdin, then it turns out you’re a massive fan of Glen Keane. Over the course of 37 years Glen had a hand in 20 productions and now, two years after he left Disney, he’s made an animated short for Google’s Spotlight Series. It’s called Duet, and you should  watch it right now.

Not Awesome: Eli Wallach Has Died

News / Comments Off on Not Awesome: Eli Wallach Has Died

Eli Wallach

Eli Wallach

A prolific and influential actor is probably the most boring way to describe someone like Eli Wallach even if it is a true statement. The man appeared in over 150 films and television shows. Not always in the best movie but generally the best part of the movies he was in might be a good way to say it. A great actor is probably the best. Whoever thought a New York Jew would pull off playing a Mexican bandit? Twice?

Wallach was 98 when he passed away. He was married to his wife for over 60 years. Our thoughts are with his family.
