Huh: ‘Mrs. Doubtfire 2’ Is In Development Because Reasons

Mrs Doubtfire Robin Williams

Yes you read that correctly, another nostalgia property (which is what we call movies that came out when we were kids) is getting sequelized. I’m actually sort of on board with this.

[The Hollywood Reporter](http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/mrs-doubtfire-sequel-works-696958):

> [Fox 2000] is developing a sequel to the 1993 hit Mrs. Doubtfire, which would reunite director Chris Columbus and star Robin Williams.

> David Berenbaum, who wrote Elf, is writing the script.

> Doubtfire starred Williams as a struggling actor and recently divorced father of three who, in order to be closer to his children, takes on the persona of a Scottish nanny, Euphegenia Doubtfire.

> Hilarity, misunderstandings and family love ensued to the tune of $219 million domestically and $222 million internationally. Williams won a Golden Globe in the best actor in a musical/comedy category while the movie won the Globe for best comedy/musical.

Why am I on board you ask? I don’t know if a Mrs. Doubtfire sequel is a good idea but the other alternative would be to remake it with some new hot comedian and that sounds like an even worse idea. The best idea would be to just leave it alone if you ask me, but that’s not how Hollywood works these days.
