Amazing Spider-Man

There’s been about a million trailers for The Amazing Spider-Man 2 which I haven’t posted because, well, there’s been about a million of them. This one purports to be the last one they’re releasing though, and does appear to have all the interesting tidbits from the rest of the marketing. Let’s watch!

There’s a lot going on here but there’s a few things I like. Namely that Spider-Man looks and moves amazing. That was one of the things that I think The Amazing Spider-Man did better than Sam Raimi’s movies, Spider-Mans movement. There’s also a lot of action in this trailer and better looks at the Rhino’s costume and Green Goblin and those I have mixed feelings about. Goblin looks…… well terrible. Rhino looks like a giant robot rhinoceros and I don’t really get if Paul Giamiatti is in there or not or how he fits into anything at all in the story.

Also, this trailer leans heavily on the “Peter and Harry are best buds!” aspect of the story, likely necessary since they left Harry out of the first movie which means they are going to have to do a lot of work to make me give a shit about him becoming the goblin. Also, with the DNA splicing things being how people get their powers in this universe, what do you splice in to become a goblin anyway?

All that said the fight with Rhino looks pretty bad ass and that there seems to be a lot of destruction going on bodes well for the scope. It’ll be interesting to see if there’s any fallout from Gwen calling out Peter’s name while he’s in costume and let’s face it, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone are both cute and charming.

To say I have mixed feelings about this going in is an understatement. I really didn’t like The Amazing Spider-Man and I sincerely hope they at least some of my problems in this one but it’s kind of looking like they may have crammed too much into this one. Especially if they finally deal with those lizard men leftover from the first movie.

I Guess we’ll find out on 2nd May.
